Nominations Clarifications Post #1

Hello! We are having a fabulous time seeing all the nominations come in and reading your fandom promos! Some have been such a welcome surprise – wow! This old and incredibly active fandom is now sleepy enough to qualify! Let’s wake it up!!! And so on.

First a slight rule clarification:

We are not accepting original character nominations in this round. If you have nominated OCs, you can reuse your relationship nomination slot. Otherwise these nominations will get rejected once nominations close.  (We will make exceptions for things like Player characters without canon names.)

We apologize for not including this in the original guidelines post, and will make the update there as well.
 

Additionally, we have a few questions about the following nominations:

• Dune Series - Frank Herbert

            We are unsure how this is a stand alone from the other parts of the fandom. As a whole, Dune is ineligible. Can you clarify this for us?

• Fawx & Stallion (Podcast)

            We couldn’t find the character Charlotte Watson. Can you clarify this for us?

• North of North (TV 2025)

            Does OFC stand for 'Original Female Character'? We are not accepting original characters at this time. If you’d like to change this, you can reuse your relationship nomination slot.

• 선의의 경쟁 | Friendly Rivalry (TV)

            We found over 100+ qualifying works after applying the relevant filters. Can you provide some clarification?

•  Inglourious Basterds (2009)

            We are not accepting original characters at this time. If you’d like to change this, you can reuse your relationship nomination slot. Could you please also disambiguate your nominations.

• Method (2017)

            We are not accepting original characters at this time. If you’d like to change this, you can reuse your relationship nomination slot. Could you please also disambiguate your nominations.

• He-Man and the Masters of the Universe

            For the nomination of Huntara (She-Ra)/Teela (He-Man), we are unable to determine if Huntara is a character who appears in the nominated He-Man series. If they are a She-Ra exclusive character, can you please nominate this ship under Crossover Fandom (if the She-Ra fandom also qualifies)?

• She-Ra: Princess Of Power (1985)

            Similarly, for the  Adora (She-Ra)/Kittrina (He-Man), can you please confirm if Kittrina appears in the nominated She-Ra verse? If they are a He-Man exclusive character, please nominate under Crossover Fandom

 

We have received many nominations without disambiguations. Please disambiguate your nominations. It prevents wandering tags and helps speed up the review process a lot.

Based on the nominations, are we including the Netflix miniseries as well under the He-Man cartoon? I haven't nominated yet, but plan to include that fandom or crossover with 1985 She-Ra (should be eligible).

So we've been looking into it and we're honestly not too sure as the fandom isn't familiar to us at all. We would prefer if separate verses are kept separate, but if they aren't distinct enough or if most of the fandom sees the Netflix miniseries as being part of the He-Man cartoon, you can send in your nomination under that fandom. 1985 She-Ra is eligible and is already in the tagset too.

I'm fine with them being separate. I also notice you've included Castaspella under MOTU, which saves me a spot (exchanges split between whether or not that needs to be a crossover)/

Although the "all media types" umbrella fandom for Dune has indeed been busy, the majority of those works are for the recent Villeneuve movies, while (as far as I could tell) the book series would be an eligible fandom by works count. The movies so far cover only the first book in the Dune series, and most of the nominated characters/relationships are either nonexistent or very minor until later in the series. In addition, the characterization and plot elements are quite distinct between the movies and the book series, hence my thought that the Dune series could count as distinct from the umbrella fandom.
